The United Methodist Church is intentionally decentralized, but is also connectional. Groups of churches in a geographic area are organized to form a district. Each district is led by a district superintendent, an elder appointed by the bishop. Tucker First UMC is part of the Atlanta-Emory District, which is the largest district in the North Georgia Conference.
